Canseco World
Jose Canseco
Hello, this site is for the greatest baseball player of the 1980's till now, 1999. From 1986 till August of 1992, Jose Canseco played for the A's. In September of 1992, Canseco was a Ranger. In 1995, Canseco was off to Boston and went back to the A's in 1997. In 1998 he was a Blue Jay and now a Devil Ray. Where for 2000? Well, you know as much as I know. Hopefully he stays a Ray, cause it looks like he is doing quite well. Jose Canseco is one of the greates home run hitters of all time. Last season he was with the Toronto Blue Jays. There, he hit a career-high 46 home runs! The last time he hit 40 or more home runs was in 1991 with the Oakland Athletic A's...where he got 44 home runs. Canseco smashed 42 home runs in 1988 with the A's and was voted the MVP for the AL. If you did not know; Canseco was the first player to get 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a single season. That was on September 23, 1988, in Milwaukee.
Did you know that...
The year that Canseco was Rookie of the Year (1986); he got 33 home runs with 117 runs batted in. He played 157 games. In the year he was voted MVP; he played 158 games, with 120 runs, 42 home runs, 124 runs batted in, 40 stolen bases and a .307 average. In 1991, Canseco got 44 home runs and 122 runs batted in. Unfortunately the following season in late August, the Oakland Athletics could not keep him and sent him to the Texas Rangers. In the 22 games he played for Texas in 1992, he got 4 home runs. (7 years later, in 20 games he gets 10 home runs!) In 1995, Canseco was a Boston Red Sox. In 1997, he was once again in Oakland; back with Mark McGwire...but McGwire would leave before the trading deadline and was off to St. Louis. This would be Canseco's worst season....but before a wounderful season! Baseball 1998: In the shadows of Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa, Jose Canseco was also doing great. He too broke a home run record; his own record. That year he got 46 home runs.
The Bash Brothers...
In 1986, Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire were the Bash Brothers. When the Oakland A's traded Canseco to Texas, many thought that the Bash Bros. would never be together again. In 1997, Canseco signed with Oakland. But before the trade deadline, McGwire was off to St. Louis. Two seasons later, Canseco is in Tampa Bay, and Big Mac is still in St. Louis.
